What was the real reason for introducing R410a (for widespread use) and why did it get this far with the high GWP?

 
 
 
 

To top it off, one of the proposed alternatives is already in R410a, so what caused them to go to all the bother of blending in the first place? I see may have to do with flammability, but the question stands… Why is the safety aspect less important now?

 
 
 
 

In my field this would be considered a “callback”…
